| Job Summary: |
| The System Administrator is responsible for managing the AWCC IT Network and information systems database, providing instruction and advice to system users, analyzing problems and issues related to local and state users' Information Systems and related software, coordinating usage among all system users, and producing a wide variety of statistical reports. He/she is also responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of system hardware/software, and related infrastructure, ensuring that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values. |
| Job Responsibilities: |
| – Maintain systems plus physical servers.
– Install and set up Servers (Windows 2008/Linux/Sun/Exchange/SQL, etc. – Verify that peripherals are working properly, including Storage and Servers. – Quickly arrange repair for hardware (server/storage) in the event of hardware failure. – Maintain awareness of technical development and make recommendations to the line manager on the need for implementing new technology. – Monitor system performance. – Install and test upgrades and improvements to the hardware and software; notify outside vendors of weaknesses or defects in their software or equipment. – User administration (setting up and maintaining accounts). – Document the files and software on the system; ensure that outdated or unused files are deleted or archived. – Install and configure antivirus software and make sure that all computers are virus-free. – Assist in the development of policies and procedures for maintenance and best practices of Windows server infrastructure. – Provide user training, support, advice, and feedback. – Monitor network and server communications and their health daily. – Update the system as soon as the new version of the OS and application software comes out. – Implement the policies for the use of the computer system and network for the users. – Set up security policies for users as well as user administration, including user and group account requirements, resolution of user access issues, and responsibility for data security. – Host and network administration, including installing and configuring server hosts, ensuring efficient client/server connectivity, managing and distributing server load, and tuning clients and servers for best performance. – Have a strong familiarity working with DEL, and SUN Servers, configuring and maintaining strong servers such as EMC, EqualLogic (RAID5 and RAID0), etc. – License administration, including license server administration, license key administration, and establishment of license use policies. – Direct the collection and analysis of system metrics and other information to ensure that complete and accurate capacity management and system performance statistics are provided to management and made available to IT personnel for review. – Communicate effectively with vendors, external municipal and government agencies, service providers, and other entities, and ensure that IT objectives are accurately represented in various technical information exchanges. – Provide support to all the requests from the helpdesk, diagnose and resolve end-user network or local printer, PC hardware, e-mail, internet, and local-area network access problems. – Establish network users, user environments, directories, and security for networks being installed. Provide users with network technical support for installing upgrades and configuring network printing, directory structures, rights, security, software, and file services, and perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems. – Facilitate and maintain a productive working relationship with other departments to identify technology requirements and coordinate technology activities. |
| Job Requirements: |
| – Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunication, or a relevant field.
– Must have 3 to 4 years of relevant work experience (2 years’ experience for a master's degree). – Fluent in one of the local languages (Dari, Pashto) and English (written and spoken). – Must have good knowledge of computer programs. – Familiarity with relevant software, tools, and technology specific to the role. – Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Unix and Microsoft is an advantage. – Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team to achieve goals and deliver high-quality results. – Understand the tools, equipment, and procedures specific to the job role. – Good communication and interpersonal skills. – Hard-working. – Ability to work under pressure. – Able to travel to other provinces and work extra hours. – Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks, environments, and schedules. – Follow the company's rules and policies. |
