| Job Summary: |
| The Microwave Engineer is responsible for planning, installing, configuring, testing, operating, and maintaining microwave transmission links in the telecom network. The role ensures reliable connectivity between telecom sites, maintains service availability, and supports network expansion projects. |
| Job Responsibilities: |
| – Design point-to-point and point-to-multipoint microwave links.
– Prepare link budget calculations and path analysis. – Conduct site surveys and assess Line of Sight (LOS) requirements. – Select suitable frequencies, antennas, radios, and transmission equipment. – Prepare network diagrams, microwave path layouts, and technical documentation. – Supervise installation of microwave equipment, antennas, IDU, ODU, feeder cables, and grounding systems. – Configure microwave radios and transmission equipment. – Perform commissioning, integration, and acceptance testing. – Coordinate with field teams, riggers, and contractors during site implementation. – Monitor microwave network performance and alarms. – Troubleshoot transmission issues such as link down, high BER, low RSSI, interference, ODU or IDU faults, alignment problems, and power issues. – Coordinate with power, RF, and NOC teams to resolve faults within SLA. – Prepare fault reports and root cause analysis. – Carry out preventive maintenance on microwave equipment and telecom sites. – Ensure proper antenna alignment and equipment performance. – Replace faulty ODU, IDU, power supply, and other defective components. – Ensure all microwave equipment is protected from environmental damage. – Analyze network performance and improve link stability. – Optimize bandwidth, modulation, frequency usage, and traffic capacity. – Monitor KPIs such as availability, latency, throughput, RSSI, and error rates. – Recommend upgrades and expansion of microwave links. – Perform any other tasks assigned by the line manager. |
| Job Requirements: |
|
– Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a relevant field. – Must have 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience. – Strong understanding of microwave communication principles and RF engineering. – Experience with microwave planning and simulation tools (e.g., Pathloss). – Fluent in one of the local languages (Dari, Pashto) and English (written and spoken). – Must have good knowledge of computer programs. – Familiarity with relevant software, tools, and technology specific to the role. – Relevant certifications are preferred. – Demonstrates a strong work ethic. – Possesses excellent communication skills. – Upholds integrity and honesty. – Capable of performing well under pressure. – Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during work. – Willingness to travel to other provinces and work additional hours. – Adheres to company rules and policies. |
