| Job Summary: |
| The OFC Engineer is responsible for the installation, testing, and rectification of all optical fiber cables as required. The role includes supporting and coordinating with other departments for OFC-related tasks, planning, designing, and recommending optical fiber network solutions to enhance the company’s internal and external services, including leased lines and customer networks. |
| Job Responsibilities: |
| – Plan, design, and professionally implement the OFC NRD project.
– Join a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring the problem-free replacement of AWCC and the external customer network with OFC. This is a cross-functional task and must work with MW, IPO, BSS, IN, and IT teams to provide required connectivity between network elements. – Maintain accurate documentation of all OFC infrastructure deployed in AWCC’s network and at other customer premises all over Afghanistan. – Survey, install ODF, fiber splicing, and optical fiber testing using different tools and test equipment such as OTDR, splicing machine, fiber finder, tone generator, optical power meter, fiber inspection probe, and other accessories for troubleshooting and splicing. – Coordinate test and fault investigation activities as required. – Coordinate with vendors and customers to resolve any technical issues. – Perform any other tasks assigned by the line manager. |
| Job Requirements: |
| – Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or a relevant field.
– Must have 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience. – Familiarity with various test equipment: OTDR, Fusion splicing machine, OFC. – Fluent in one of the local languages (Dari, Pashto) and English (written and spoken). – Must have good knowledge of computer programs. – Familiarity with relevant software, tools, and technology specific to the role. – Relevant certificates are an asset. – Demonstrates a strong work ethic. – Possesses excellent communication skills. – Upholds integrity and honesty. – Capable of performing well under pressure. – Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during work. – Willingness to travel to other provinces and work additional hours. – Adheres to company rules and policies. |
