Education and Developing Your Professional Skills: Important For You and Important For Afghanistan’s Future

During the last week of May, a group of my AWCC colleagues participated in a seminar course which helped them understand the types of situations which can cause people to experience fear and/or anger. Most importantly, the seminar taught each participant how to develop skills and strategies which will help them address and resolve the types of fears and anxieties that we all experience in our lives, from time to time.

At first glance, it might seem unusual that a wireless communications company is sponsoring a seminar course that helps our colleagues learn more about themselves, instead of learning more about smartphones and high speed Internet. However, since our earliest days as a company, Afghan Wireless has believed that one of our most important duties is to help our staff develop their educational and professional capabilities to their highest and best level possible.

Since the beginning of 2016, Afghan Wireless has sponsored a broad range of employee education and professional development programs, that are providing our staff with the opportunity to learn new skills, and also, improve their current talents. The programs we’ve hosted in 2016 are in addition to the fifty-two professional development courses that AWCC has provide for our staff in recent years.

And, our commitment to helping everyone at Afghan Wireless become not just the best professionals, but the best people and citizens possible, doesn’t stop at AWCC’s doorstep. Last Fall, we increased the amount of scholarship assistance we provide to our Afghan Wireless staff who are attending a university. And right now, there are AWCC staff attending fourteen universities throughout Afghanistan.

So often on my Blog, I’ve discussed how getting the best education that you can, not only makes you a stronger person, it means that together, we can build a stronger Afghanistan. Since ancient times, Afghanistan has been a center of trade and our geographic position has helped us play a vital role in the economic development of our region. Education will help us acquire the skills we need to control and develop our country’s natural resources. New knowledge and new abilities will also help us harness our proud tradition of entrepreneurship, to build a modern private sector filled with successful Small and Medium Sized companies. And as we create the new markets, new jobs—and the new opportunities for people to use their skills—we, together, will help Afghanistan become a more economically self sufficient nation.

Today, 10.5 million young Afghans are attending 16,000 schools located in every part of our country. These young people, eager for knowledge and an opportunity to contribute their talents, are the foundation upon which an economically prosperous Afghanistan can be built.

So my friends, Afghanistan’s economic growth and progress depend on you and your amazing determination to strive and succeed in your quest to receive the best education possible. And we here at Afghan Wireless, together with our partners at The Bayat Foundation, through our support of scholarships and Afghan educational institutions, will continue to honor your collective sacrifices, commitment, energy, and passion, that is helping Afghanistan reclaim its rightful place in the world, as a strong, secure, educated and enlightened country.

Until next time,

Ehsan
